Access Clinic
at OCD North
The Access Clinic is staffed by Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate students, who work under the supervision of expert ERP therapists. This structure ensures high-quality care while maintaining affordability.
What is the Access Clinic?
As with all of our programs at OCD North, the Access Clinic was developed out of community need. Many clients describe affordability and accessibility as barriers to receiving effective OCD treatment. The Access Clinic at OCD North aims to dismantle these barriers by using OCD-Informed Practice.
The Access Clinic offers accessible support to current and potential clients of OCD North. Counselling services provided by Intern Therapists are meant to compliment, and not to replace, Exposure and Response Prevention.
How does the Access Clinic Work?
Bridging the gap between therapists who are not trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and an OCD Clinic, the Access Clinic is run by Master’s level OCD-Informed Social Work Interns under supervision by expert OCD therapists. The Access Clinic is available during select dates in September, January, and June.
Key features of the program include:
- OCD-Informed Emotional Support: Clients receive understanding and empathetic support tailored to their experiences.
- Community Referrals: Assistance in navigating and accessing community resources and referrals.
- Coping Strategies: Practical tools and strategies to help manage OCD symptoms effectively.
- Support for Caregivers: Guidance and support for family members and caregivers.

Our Interns participate in mandatory ERP and OCD-Informed Practice training prior to client interaction. They receive training on the policies and procedures at OCD North, including safety planning, community referrals, and when to seek supervision.
Our Interns are not yet registered with their respective social work body; as such, our registered social workers provide direct and indirect 1:1 supervision on a weekly basis to ensure our clients are receiving the best care possible. In this vein, you may be asked if counseling sessions can be audio recorded for supervision purposes.
OCD North seeks to recruit MSW students who share our commitment to professional, ethical, qualified and accountable practice. Community partnerships with accredited schools of social work ensure students are well vetted prior to beginning their internship.
